Learn about changes to how you make calls within Government.
The Ministry of Central Services in working to pilot a new phone system for Government to replace the existing Centrex VoIP phones, which are end-of-life and no longer supported by the manufacturer. As part of the pilot, all employees located at Century Plaza (1920 Rose Street) will be transitioned to the new IBC phone system starting November 27, 2018.

As a result, 10-digit dialing will be required when attempting to phone these individuals. If a number on the new IBC system is called using abbreviated dialing (i.e. 7-1237), the caller will receive an automated error message that the number is no longer in service or has been disconnected. Employees are required to hang up and call the number back using its full 10 digits (i.e. 306-787-1234).

It would be good practice to being using 10-digit dialing for all your calls as we work to replace the unsupported Centrex IP phones.
