The first full week of February is Archives Week! This week celebrates the work of professionals who develop, promote and ensure public access to the Provincial Archives for generations to come.
To kick off Archives Week, Taskroom is excited to launch some updated records management content: the new Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan Records Management page and updated Records Centre page. You can access these services pages via the How do I manage government records? task page.
What is the difference between Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan and the Records Centre?
The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan is responsible for managing, supporting and overseeing policies, guidelines, and legislation which relate to records and information management. This agency develops and oversees records management policies and ensures legal compliance. The Archives is also responsible for preserving records which have been deemed to be significant to the history of the province once they have met their retention requirements according to the terms of an approved records schedule.
The Records Centre, overseen by Central Services, is responsible for the storage, retrieval and disposal of physical government records that are still the responsibility of government ministries.
Archives Week is a good time to make sure your records keeping skills are in tip-top shape. All employees have a responsibility to ensure government records are well maintained and properly managed. If you have any questions about your record management requirements, please contact your records coordinator.
